The Three Kings

Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar
Are coming to visit me.
I must go to bed early,
If I want that toy tree.

I have prepared milk for the camels
And sweet biscuits for the kings.
This night is full of magic,
I can’t wait to see what it brings.

There is no chimney at home
Because I live in a flat.
Mum says it doesn’t matter,
The kings know how to solve that.

They open the door with magic
And tiptoe into the hall.
Then they go out the same way,
After leaving me a doll.

‘Not a doll, a cherry tree,’
I cry and shout and pout.
Mum doesn’t understand,
She just tells me to chill out.

I pray they know what I want,
They are wise after all.
Tomorrow when I wake up,
I don’t want to have to bawl.
